Summer of Code '06 Projects Selected

Congratulations to the following who were selected to work on Samba projects as part of Google's Summer of Code '06. Google will fund the following 6 students to work on Samba over the Summer months.

  • Brad Henry
    • Implement a system for fully automated testing against Windows.
    • Brad attends the University of Regina in Saskatchewan, Canada. He has a B.Sc. in Computer Science, and is currently majoring in Philosophy. He also participated in last year's Summer of Code.
    • Mentors: Andrew Tridgell
  • Michael Krax
    • Develop a logging system to allow system administrators better network monitoring than is possible with current debug logs.
    • Michael is working on a PhD in Political Science at Free University Berlin.
    • Mentor: Jerry Carter
  • Martin Kühl
    • Provide support for an external LDAP server in Samba4.
    • Martin is currently pursuing a Diplom of Informatics at the University of Bremen. He is also a student developer at Univention.
    • Mentor: Andrew Bartlett
  • K. Sreepathi Pai
    • Implement User Management Interface for SWAT in Samba4.
    • Sreepathi has been studying Computer Engineering for the last 4 years at Don Bosco Institute of Technology, Mumbai.
    • Mentor: Andrew Tridgell
  • Ming Wong
    • Create a VFS module to share files across 2 disks, in a sense, creating user-space RAID.
    • Ming is a student at RMIT University, where he studies Computer Science.
    • Mentors: Jerry Carter and Jiri Klouda
  • Mingwang Xia
    • Develop an alternative configuration, registry-like backend for Samba3.
    • Mingwang is a graduate student in Advanced Computing and Systems Lab at Zhejiang University, China
    • Mentor: Jerry Carter

We are glad to have these new developers, even if only for a few months. We're looking forward to the code they will contribute to Samba.
